Bounds for the optimum over-relaxation factor for the S.O.R. solution of Laplace type equations over irregular regions
Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, The University, Nottingham, UK
The calculation of the optimum over-relaxation factor for the solution of Laplace type equations over irregular regions, is explained by an analogy with the vibration of a thin membrane. Using this, an explanation is given of intuitive method, proposed by T.J. Randall (1968), which is based on the substitution of an equivalent rectangle for the irregular region.
