College timetable construction by computer

Royal Military College of Science, Shrivenham, Swindon, UK

This paper describes a computer system for constructing College and School timetables developed at the Royal Military College of Science. The system is capable of dealing with a complicated pattern of student options and incorporates a powerful algorithm for resolving conflicts. Results achieved using real data have been most encouraging.
