A description is given of a numerical method which has been used in an extensive investigation of the dynamics behaviour of a synchronous generator when disturbed by the sudden application of a load at the output terminals. The technique described uses a modified version of Hamming's predictor-corrector method, and accounts for the nonlinearities introduced by magnetic saturation. The theoretical predictions are shown to be substantiated by a comparison with experimentally obtained results.
