Link systems for multi-computer control of a large process: Part 1
Computing Laboratory, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK
Part 1 of this paper begins with an introductory section demonstrating the considerable advantages to be gained by multi-computer control over single computer control of a large process. It goes on to examine the desirable features of an inter-computer link system in a process control environment and to describe a scheme for constructing link systems possessing these features.
Lastly, details are given of a working inter-computer link system constructed under the scheme at the University of Bradford.
The detection of fault conditions associated with the link system is discussed in Part 2.
