Problems with analytic description of text formats
N. Zvegintzov *
Rt 2, Box 222, Rupert, USA
Let a scheme for using new lines and indentation to highlight source text be called a format. Formats are commonly described by examples rather than analytically, apparently because of a lack of accepted terminology. This is illustrated with formats for ALGOL 60. There may be a pay-off in human communication to creating an accepted terminology.
