Attitudes, Association and success of MIS: Some empirical results from Research in the Context of a Business Game

P. Ein-Dor * and E. Segev

Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration; University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C., Canada

This is a report on a study of the relationships among attitudes toward, associations with, and success of MIS. A business game served as the vehicle for a study of the relationships among these MIS variables. One hundred and thirty-one graduating MBA students participating in 18 firms in a business game were required to develop MIS and to report on the systems developed. Each of the 18 firms developed one or more systems of their own choosing and without external guidance. Individual questionnaires were later used to differentiate between implementors and users of the systems and to collect data on success of systems, involvement and user attitudes.

Results exhibited very strong and significant relationships between the measures used to define each of the variables and strengthened hypotheses on the relationships among them.
