Short Note

A Weighted Mark-Scaling Algorithm

J. M. Wilson *

Department of Management Studies, Loughborough University of Technology, Loughborough, Leics. LE11 3TU, UK

This paper describes a modification to a mark-scaling algorithm to allow weighting factors to be taken into account. The algorithm is designed to work on sets of examination option papers where there is no requirement that a common paper be taken by all students and the options are to be weighted so as to vary in importance.

Received September 1985.
