A Survey of Exploratory Software Development

Exploratory software development is an important style of software development that has a markedly different flavour from conventional software engineering methodologies. Originally used in artificial intelligence programming, it has much in common with both rapid prototyping and software maintenance. This paper surveys the area, by examining the methodology, technology, and related issues.
