A computer in insurance

J. F. Milburn, D. J. Fearnley and C. G. Myers *

The Yorkshire Insurance Company Ltd, St Helen's Square, York, UK

An account of the manner in which The Yorkshire Insurance Company Limited planned for and installed an IBM 1401 computer. It is purposely written in harsh business terms with the accent on the practical difficulties which arose, in the hope that the comments may be of help to others, in avoiding their own problems.
