The British Standard Data Code and how to exploit it
Data Systems Consultants, 5 Kingsley Place, London, UK
A character code affects, at the most basic level, communication of information between users and computers. The British and international standard character codes are now in widespread, and increasing use. Thus most workers responsible for putting new work on computers, and certainly all those responsible for design of equipment and programs, may be affected by the British Standard Data Code. Its present status is here briefly reviewed, and a series of practical points discussed to assist users to exploit it. Particular attention is given to its relationship with the character codes of certain computers widely used in Britain.
