A framework for the investigation of a spatial data base
School of Computing Studies, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK
This paper discusses a possible data base system which supports locational data, that is entities with attributes of type point, boundary, area, etc. The relational model is used to describe the system. We are concerned with the representation of the locational data in a variety of forms depending on the processing required. The method of representation may also influence the cost and accuracy of the result. Thus the user has a choice of processing routes to achieve a given result.
