An introduction to compiler writing

This paper is based on a talk given to the Birmingham branch of the B.C.S. in January 1965. It refers to problem met with in developing a translator and a compiler for LEO III computers. These have a single-address order code, ane level of store is usually recommended, and the order code is designed to handle and store data directly in any radix; decimal, binary, or a mixed radix such as sterling.
